Thermochemical Portfolio Alignment and Peer Review
July 10 - 11, 2007
Location: Marriott Denver West

The U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Office of Biomass Program (OBP) is holding a Peer Review for the Thermochemical Conversion Platform. The formal Thermochemical Platform review will provide the Technology Manager pertinent peer reviewer feedback on the individual projects and the portfolio as a whole. OBP is investigating the contribution of the thermochemical pathway to the Program goals, aligned with the President's 20 in 10 Initiative goals. The 20 in 10 aims to reduce the nation's dependence on imported oil in the transportation sector and helps drive the DOE's renewables mission.

The Thermochemical Conversion Platform Review will evaluate:

  • Appropriateness of the research project to platform objectives
  • Progress against planned milestones and likelihood of commercial success
  • Relationship to OBP mission and goals and contribution to 2012, 20 in 10, 2030 targets
  • Strategic mix of industry, academic, laboratory involvement in the research
  • Appropriateness of industry-government cost share
  • Recommendations (i.e. go/no-go decisions, redirection, etc)
